The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is a state government agency that provides educational resources to help K–12 students and educators connect with nature and learn about environmental stewardship. Its offerings include Nature at School, a free, live virtual lesson series with DNR educators that covers topics such as biodiversity loss and human impacts on wildlife habitat. Recorded webinars are also available. The agency also offers wildlife-themed curricula and games, and a wide range of nature-based activities, such as scavenger hunts, virtual park tours, and reading materials.
Professional development opportunities are provided through external programs to help educators incorporate natural resource topics into their classrooms. The department also partners with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) to present a webinar series focused on the MI Healthy Climate Plan, which outlines steps toward a carbon-neutral economy by 2050. These webinars address priority actions including environmental justice, clean energy, electrified transportation, building decarbonization, and land and water protection. Climate action resources include state-specific data and practical guidance for reducing environmental impact.
